Finding this item demands significant progression through the main story alongside surviving a formidable boss encounter.
Journeying to Castle Sol in Mountaintops of the Giants
To begin your search for the left medallion piece, you must first reach the Mountaintops of the Giants region. This territory becomes accessible after defeating Morgott in Leyndell and using the regular Rold Medallion at the Grand Lift of Rold. From the lift entrance, navigate northward across the snowy landscape until you spot the imposing structure of Castle Sol sitting along the northern cliffs.
As you approach Castle Sol, be prepared to deal with wandering spirits, exile soldiers, and a walking mausoleum patrolling the exterior perimeter. Securing the Main Gate Site of Grace outside the castle provides a convenient checkpoint for your exploration. Navigating the dangerous courtyards and battlements eventually leads to the main inner keep.
Defeating Commander Niall in Castle Sol
Before claiming the medallion, players must confront Commander Niall, who stands as the primary guardian of Castle Sol. Located at the highest courtyard within the castle, this boss summons dual spectral knights to aid him in combat. Managing these dual summons quickly allows you to focus on Niall's powerful frost and lightning attacks.
Using spirit ashes or player summons can greatly simplify this challenging encounter by distracting the commander's allies. Taking advantage of fire attacks or heavy posture-breaking moves can also deal substantial damage. Once Commander Niall falls, the fog door disappears and a nearby Site of Grace activates.
Claiming the Haligtree Secret Medallion Left
After victory in the boss arena, proceed straight through the doorway at the back of the arena into the castle keep. Take the wooden lift upwards to reach the highest rooftop of the castle tower. Walking along the open roof area brings you to a ghost NPC kneeling on the floor.
Right beside the kneeling figure lies the shiny item pickup containing the left half of the medallion. Interacting with the item immediately adds the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left) to your inventory. You now possess the second half necessary to activate the secret path.
How to Use the Secret Medallion at the Grand Lift
With both the left and right halves in hand, return to the Grand Lift of Rold located at the end of the Forbidden Lands. Stand on the central elevator platform where the interaction prompt appears on your screen. Use the action toggle button to switch from the standard hoist option to "Hoist Secret Medallion".
Triggering this command initiates a unique cutscene that sends the lift down into a hidden subterranean path. Following this exit leads directly into the fog-filled Consecrated Snowfield, opening up the path toward Miquella's Haligtree.
